we absolutely love a good balm, whether it's for chapped lips, cheeks, elbows, a growing baby bump or sore nipples - balms are extremely healing & protective to our most vulnerable patches of skin
1. Balms seal in the moisture & healing potential of carrier oils
Although often a simple rose hip or raspberry seed serum is enough for most of your skin, certain areas may need more time to soak in the healing benefits of these (and other) incredible hip & seed oils. The occlusive nature of a balm holds healing ingredients onto the surface of the skin for longer, allowing these ingredients to deeply penetrate and work their undeniable magic.
2. Balms protect against the elements
Balms create a barrier between your skin and the outside world. Here in Ontario we've had a very cold, dry & windy winter (and it isn't quite over!). We've been reaching for our beautiful balms to protect our skin from the elements.
3. Balms hold to the skin during times of trauma or change
At times of change in the skin & body (such as pregnancy) balms are a wonderful line of defence against stretch marks and uncomfortable, itchy skin. Using a balm rather than an oil or cream allows the moisture and protection to hold onto the skin for much longer, providing near constant protection against damage.
