more & more, the healing power of trees is being substantiated by scientific research
Trees, especially conifer trees, produce antimicrobial airborne biochemicals that have been found to stimulate immunity, lower blood pressure and slow heart rate in humans. This group of biochemicals are called Phytoncides and they comprise the beautiful aroma that fills a forest, stimulating the health of the entire ecosystem and cleaning the air we breathe.
When we inhale them these compounds can increase the production and activity of natural killer cells, a type of white blood cell that targets and eliminates virus infected cells and cancer cells. They've also been shown to decrease the level of stress hormones, cortisol and adrenaline, leading to a calm relaxed internal state.
Diffuse our Forest Bath Blend, Organic Black Spruce or Organic Balsam Fir essential oils in your home. Or, place a few drops on a clothe and take it into a steamy shower with you. You can even apply these conifer oils directly across the low back to boost adrenal function, simply add 1 or 2 drops to some jojoba oil.
Perhaps our favourite thing about Conifer Oils is that they're much more gentle than many respiratory oils (ie; Eucalyptus) and a safer choice with children and the elderly. We use Forest Bath Blend with our five-year-old during cold and flu season to keep him healthy and strong.
