1. Scented Candles are often made using synthetic fragrance
Most scented candles you see in stores are made using fragrance. Why should you care how the aroma of your candle is being achieved? Synthetic fragrances are made using harmful chemicals that are then being burned into the air in your home.
Synthetic fragrance chemicals like those found in scented candles have been linked to hormone disruption, cancer, respiratory issues, allergies and more.

2. Scented Candles made using essential oils won't contain the beneficial biochemicals
These days there are scented candles on the market that claim to use natural scent (essential oils) rather than fragrance. This is definitely the better option when it comes to scented candles! Unfortunately, when essential oils are used in candles, the active biochemicals do not survive long enough to benefit you and your family.
Most candle making processes are done at a high enough heat to compromise the integrity of the essential oils from the jump. The biochemicals that do make it through this initial process will be burned off quickly when the candle starts being used. This is why essential oil diffusers use 'cool mist' - the active biochemicals in essential oils are extremely sensitive to heat.
